We are working with a forward-thinking utilities company that is building a strong name in the circular energy economy.

As part of a supply chain restructure, the business is hiring a Category Manager – Process Engineering.

Scope of Accountabilities

Site Procurement

Manage procurement activities at assigned sites. Oversee third-party spending and ensure the team delivers value for money.

Project Procurement

Support site-led and central engineering projects. Handle procurement across categories, including plant maintenance shutdowns and technical projects.

Company-Wide Procurement

Help identify and prioritize opportunities across the supply base. Support category management goals and contribute to company-wide procurement strategies.

  • Operations and Maintenance Managers
  • FM Managers
  • Project Managers and PMO
  • Central Engineering Teams
  • The Procurement Team

What You’ll Do

As Procurement Manager, you’ll drive value, reduce risk, and improve supply chain performance. You’ll follow company Procurement & Supply Chain Policy, Make vs Buy Policy, and Code of Conduct.

Main Responsibilities

  • Optimise value – Improve cost efficiency and manage supplier risks.
  • Build partnerships – Work with internal teams, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Lead procurement
    • Create clear procurement specifications
    • Run supplier risk checks and set performance targets
    • Organise e-Sourcing events (SourceDogg)
    • Evaluate supplier capabilities and onboard new partners
  • Manage contracts – Support supplier setup, monitor performance, and ensure value delivery.
  • Drive improvements – Encourage supplier innovation and process improvements across the business.
  • Ensure compliance – Follow procurement policies and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Solid background in project procurement and site-specific categories
  • Private sector engineering/technical industry experience
  • Skilled in e-Sourcing setup and management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working across multiple sites and in fast-changing environments

📍 Note: Travel is required. Expect up to two nights/three days away from home per week. This will not be every week.

Advantageous Skills

  • Degree in engineering, science, or related field
  • Experience with construction projects and CDM regulations
  • Knowledge of process plant maintenance and materials handling
  • Hard FM procurement experience (building fabric, mechanical & electrical)
  • Contract drafting experience (JCT, NEC, or Yellow Book)
  • CapEx procurement expertise
