Interim Commercial Lead

We are seeking an experienced Interim Commercial Lead. This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of national security, supporting the procurement and management of critical operational contracts used daily. Requirements are often innovative and highly specialised, ranging from operational equipment and specialist clothing to complex service arrangements.
As our Interim Commercial Lead, you will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, collaborating across national networks, delivering commercial solutions that directly support frontline services. No two days are the same, and this role offers exposure to a fast-paced, dynamic environment where your expertise will make a tangible impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead commercial activity across a diverse portfolio of operational and corporate categories
- Procure and manage contracts for complex, niche, and operationally critical requirements
- Develop and implement category strategies aligned to business needs
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders
- Oversee contract management, including large-scale income-generating assets
- Support cross-government collaboration
- Lead, mentor, and develop a small team (2 direct and 2 indirect reports)
- Drive innovation, value for money, and social value outcomes across London communities
What You’ll Be Working On:
- Multi-package tenders for operational equipment and uniform
- Commercialisation and re-procurement of national assets
- Estates and construction-related projects (e.g. office moves, furniture)
- Corporate contracts such as travel services
- Pipeline planning and delivery of future commercial activity
About You:
Essential Criteria
- Strong knowledge of supply markets, procurement, and contract management methodologies
- Proven track record of delivering value-added commercial outcomes (cashable and non-cashable)
- Experience influencing senior stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to inspire teams and build commercial capability
Desirable Criteria
- Existing SC/DV clearance
- Experience procuring research or innovative solutions
- Background in procurement or contract management across the full commercial lifecycle
- Experience within public sector, regulated environments, defence, or intelligence
- Professional qualifications (e.g. CIPS, IACCM or working towards)
