Full Description

The Procurement Hive is proud to partner with a respected non-profit organisation currently seeking a Project Buyer to join their team on a Fixed Term Contract through to the end of 2026.

In this role, you’ll become part of a welcoming and collaborative Procurement team based at a world-renowned location, offering stunning surroundings, exceptional facilities, and a unifying mission to improve global health. It’s a truly inspiring environment to do your best work.

As Project Buyer, you’ll play a key role in supporting Procurement Partners and Category Buyers by managing lower-value sourcing projects and running RFx processes. Your work will help ensure procurement activities are aligned with broader research and operational objectives.

About the Role:

This is an agile, delivery-focused procurement role where you’ll manage a diverse portfolio of projects. You’ll contribute to category planning and develop strong, collaborative relationships with stakeholders across the organisation. Your work will directly support both scientific and operational teams, enabling them to make informed commercial decisions while ensuring value for money, regulatory compliance, and overall efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end procurement workstreams for assigned projects, including leading RFx processes.
  • Provide commercial insight and market analysis to inform stakeholder decision-making.
  • Ensure procurement activities deliver measurable value while effectively mitigating risk.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Finance, and other internal teams to support seamless project delivery.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by constructively challenging existing processes.
  • Support the development and execution of category strategies, drawing on stakeholder feedback and insights.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure best-value outcomes for the Institute.

About You:

You’ll be proactive and commercially minded, with the confidence to lead projects independently while collaborating effectively across teams. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities will be key to your success, along with a natural ability to build trusted relationships. Ideally, you’ll be comfortable navigating ambiguity, influencing decisions, and constructively challenging the status quo to drive continuous improvement.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong advocate for Procurement value proposition.
  • Good understanding of key contractual terms.

Competencies and Behaviours:

  • Strong and collaborative working relationships with relevant stakeholders and project team members.
  • Self-starter, able to work autonomously, but with full support of department colleagues where required.
  • Proven negotiator with suppliers and customers alike.
  • Solution and output orientated with a willingness to take on challenges.
  • Proven ability to listen, understand business needs and provide win-win solutions in a proactive and principled manner.
  • Flexible and pragmatic attitude.
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
