Role Profile
As the newly appointed Regional Distribution Centre Manager, you will drive strategic initiatives across Supply Chain Operations to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, manage budgets, and elevate both quality and customer satisfaction. You will spearhead the development of annual budgets and business plans, ensuring alignment with financial and ethical targets.
Play a pivotal role in delivering a 40% growth target over three years as part of the broader Charitable Growth Plan. This includes expanding Regional Distribution Centre capabilities and advancing the organisation’s Warehouse Management System (WMS) strategy.
Purpose of Role
- Support daily operations across regional distribution centres, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
- Collaborate with DC General Managers to optimise productivity and reduce cost to serve.
- Lead productivity tracking across sites with clearly defined KPIs and achievable targets.
- Monitor performance metrics and take corrective actions to maintain operational effectiveness.
- Lead and mentor both warehouse staff and volunteers, promoting a culture of accountability and excellence.
- Coordinate staff training and development to build capability across all locations.
- Establish agile inventory processes suited to a dynamic, donation-based environment.
- Act as a key liaison between departments, including food sourcing and volunteer engagement, to ensure seamless operations.
Key Deliverables
Management & Strategy:
- Foster collaboration across Food, Community, and Volunteering teams for effective planning and communication.
- Strengthen relationships and visibility at NSM and NCGM to support growth and operational success.
- Oversee market produce sourcing, including cover plans for holidays and absences.
- Consolidate and present regular data reports using Power BI, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Champion AX Dynamics system integrity and facilitate interdepartmental communication.
- Collaborate with Transport Management to schedule and optimise driver operations.
Site Operations:
- Implement and continuously refine operational policies to maximise efficiency.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, hygiene, and security standards.
- Optimise storage utilisation and manage food flow with FIFO principles.
- Coordinate waste disposal and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Ensure accurate financial and logistical record keeping and reporting.
- Utilise TMS systems to streamline logistics and support performance tracking.
- Apply pragmatic problem-solving to drive impactful operational results.
People Leadership:
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing development of employees.
- Engage and support volunteers to ensure alignment and motivation.
- Document and communicate standardised procedures to maintain operational consistency.
- Maintain and approve a rolling four-week rota in accordance with staffing needs.
- Conduct briefings, shift handovers, appraisals, and where needed, disciplinaries and investigations.
