Our manufacturing client, spread across multiple sites across the UK, is looking to recruit a new Senior Procurement Specialist to join a small team, predominantly to manage Freight and Logistics Services related spends.

The Senior Procurement Specialist will lead tender processes, manage suppliers and contracts, and assist in the strategic transformation of Freight and Logistics Services, and also support other indirect spend areas. Other responsibilities include spend data analysis, management reporting, sustainable procurement and direct procurement support.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead competitive tender processes, including the preparation of tender documents, evaluation of bids, negotiation of terms and award of contracts. Including, but not limited to international freight agreements,
  • Management of suppliers & associated contracts. Ensuring the efficient and effective resolution of issues and fulfilment of agreed performance levels
  • Strategic procurement transformation of cross site indirect spend areas,
  • Assist in the development and execution of an indirect procurement strategy and policy,
  • Support the Division’s sustainability goals by ensuring supply chain compliance to ethical sourcing standards.
  • Creating procurement spend reports,
  • Identify innovative procurement solutions that provide savings and process efficiencies for the organisation,
  • Contribute to building, managing and maintaining relationships with suppliers,
  • Assist with direct procurement spend areas as and when required,
  • Use SAP and its tools to drive enhanced reporting resulting in better decision making,
  • Actively support commercial/procurement issues to facilitate effective business decision making,
  • Support the Category Manager with any other ad-hoc procurement activities.

Experience Required:

  • Extensive proven procurement experience inc. procurement of international freight services or Indirect procurement and/ or Direct procurement
  • Strategic procurement
  • Previous experience in tendering and contract management
  • Proficient in the use of excel
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement principles and practices
  • Previous experience in project management and negotiation, as well as cost and price analysis
  • Working Knowledge of SAP S4 Hana or equivalent
  • Ability to analyse and develop accurate conclusions to support managerial procurement decisions based on key data.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
